From the most famous philanthropist to you

Here are a few musings on doing good on the planet, whether you're taking on world hunger or assisting a neighbour.

There's no higher virtue than charity and compassion. To be recalled as the most generous person in history, or perhaps the most generous individual that somebody knows, would be the most terrific tradition that anybody might ever intend to leave. Obviously, it's not very likely that anyone would ever receive the title of the most charitable person in the world, since there are a lot of people doing such wonderful work in so many different areas, each as vitally important as each other. From Bulat Utemuratov to Marcel Arsenault, there are philanthropists all over the world making every effort to assist others, using their hard made success to make the world a better place. Often, it's the goal of an individual's profession to be able to get to the point where they can turn away from work in the regular sense and start doing the really crucial work that is satisfying to them, concentrating on improving the world however they can.

There actually is no sensation like doing a kind deed. Although we often seem to see doing good as some generous sacrifice, and admitting that it does have a positive influence on our own lives and sensations is something to be ashamed of, it's one of the strangest peculiarities of our modern-day culture. Doing good feels good, and that's what's so wonderful about it! Why must kind deeds not be rewards with a glowing heat in one's heart that comes along with knowing that they have actually assisted someone, whether it's somebody that you will never know who has actually been effected by a disaster on the other side of the world, or somebody in need that you walk past on your way to the train. It need not be some grand act on the scale of celebrity philanthropists like Cari Tuna either, even the tiniest acts of generosity can completely alter someone's day for the better, and you can rather rightly walk around with a spring in your step and a smile on your face (which can be an act of generosity in its own quiet method as well).

There is a presumption that if you're not trying to fix every type of crisis under the sun, you are somehow not satisfying your duties as a good person. Naturally, we all understand that that isn't the case at all, and there are so many things that require our attention that it would be impossible for anybody to try and right all the world's wrongs all on their own. Luckily, nobody is by themselves, there are 7 billion people to assist! From philanthropists who help the poor to nature enthusiasts who look after the environment, we all have an effect in our own way.
